Overview
Our client represented the defendant in a patent infringement suit involving infrared thermometers and needed to demonstrate how a much earlier patent anticipated the asserted claims. Because the prior art patent was built on earlier technology, it was important to help the jury understand how the simple patent drawings might represent a real device and how that real device would operate.
FTI’s design team made a seamless transition from the black and white line work of the patent drawings to full illustrations, which were then animated to show how the machine operated and paired with a graphical representation of the output to show how it fulfilled each term of the asserted claim.
